The new RUKO Countersink 3S: Fast and effortless von precise countersinking

Circular, burr-free countersinks, more than 30 percent less feed force, and significantly shorter machining times: The new RUKO Countersink 3S combines high performance with ease of use and high wear resistance.

In professional countersinking operations, smooth operation and cutting geometry are key factors in determining the quality of the countersink. The new RUKO Countersink 3S enables a smooth, controlled countersinking process with reduced effort.

The reduced feed force facilitates controlled machining down to the desired countersink diameter and is particularly noticeable in hand-held applications.

The Countersink 3S, available in HSS and HSS-Co 5, is suitable for machining steel, high-strength steels and stainless steel. It can be used in hand drills and drill presses. For CNC machines, the HSS-Co 5 version with a TiAlN coating is also available.

Newly developed cutting edge geometry

RUKO’s developers have placed particular emphasis on a newly developed cutting edge geometry, which incorporates insights gained from the ULTIMATECUT premium line. At its core are three perfectly coordinated cutting edges that contribute to a significant reduction in axial and radial forces, thereby enabling uniform and stable material removal.

In combination with the variable-radius back cut, each countersinking operation is stabilized and the tendency to chatter is noticeably reduced, which ultimately results in a countersinking finish that is both precise and free of chatter marks.

Other important parameters, such as the rake angle, transition radii, and extra-wide chip flutes, have also been modified and completely redesigned; these ensure optimal chip evacuation, reduce heat build-up, and, overall, significantly increase wear resistance.

When machining parameters are tailored to the material, the 3S geometry enables a wide range of cutting speeds while maintaining consistently high countersinking quality.

The result is circular countersinks with a uniform, scratch-free surface.

Measurable advantages in a direct comparison

In in-house comparative tests, the feed force required for the RUKO Countersink 3S was more than 30 percent lower than that of the commercially available taper countersinks tested.

With an average countersinking time of eight seconds, the machining time was reduced by more than 50 percent. At the same time, the Countersink 3S achieved up to 60 percent longer tool life.

Note on performance values: The values listed were determined under identical conditions in the company’s own testing and experimental facilities. Test conditions: S235JR structural steel, material thickness 10 mm, and countersink diameter 20.5 mm. Results may vary depending on the machine, material, tool dimensions, and machining parameters.

Manufactured in Germany, the Countersink 3S thus offers a high-performance and cost-effective solution for professional users who value precise surfaces, comfortable operation, and reliable machining processes.
